Why choose a multi-discipline health clinic for back pain?

When back pain occurs, it’s likely that you initially tried to resolve the pain yourself, whether that’s natural remedies or medicines. However, in many cases, this pain relief just won’t do the job and will only cover the pain in the short term, as opposed to finding the cause and treating it.

What is a multi-disciplinary health clinic?

Rather than opting for a sole Physiotherapist or Chiropractor (for example), a multi-discipline health clinic allows the knowledge and experience of various practitioners all under one roof, giving you the benefits of everyone’s skill sets.

At Body Consultancy, our health clinics have practitioners in the following fields:

This integrated approach means that the problem is more likely to be diagnosed sooner and your treatment plans are more cohesive.

Benefits of a multi-disciplinary health clinic

  • Speed of recovery – we use the various skill sets of each practitioner immediately so the treatment is more comprehensive. It will get you to where you want to be quicker!
  • Efficiency – there’s no need to keep switching between sole-discipline clinics trying to find a solution that works for you.
  • Expertise – rather than just the opinion and expertise of one practitioner, you will receive the knowledge of over 10 health professionals.
  • Range of solutions – you won’t be given a one-size-fits-all solution, instead, you will receive a bespoke plan suited to your specific needs.

Why is this a good approach for back pain?

Whether you’ve been dealing with your back pain for a long period of time now, or something has sparked the pain such as trauma, each client at Body Consultancy will go through a different process to relieve or alleviate their discomfort.

You may book your complimentary consultation with our massage therapist, thinking that this will be the solution, however after your 30-minute chat with us, it might be discovered that you need treatment from our Osteopath who has more experience with your symptoms. Being a multi-disciplinary health clinic, this is easy to deal with as we can simply get our osteopath involved in your treatment, rather than you having to go somewhere new.

Tissue or joints become mechanically stressed which gives nerve endings a sign to your brain that you’re in pain. Once that is in place, the tissues need to be treated (by manipulation or massage or exercise), once that has happened, the central nervous system chills out and your symptoms will start to go. We, as a multi-disciplinary clinic, will then give you a pathway to keep that tissue calm.

Here’s Georgie’s story…

Georgie came to Body Consultancy in 2021 following a car accident causing her pain in her shoulders and upper back. After a consultation where her health history was discussed, her Scoliosis, which she was diagnosed with as a child, was brought up. Our practitioners, by working together, came up with a plan, optimising the knowledge and expertise of both Chiropractors and Osteopaths, that would not only alleviate the short-term pain she had from the accident, but also the longstanding, underlying discomfort she had been receiving for many years because of the Scoliosis.

The result: A more pain-free life, being able to live day-to-day without any general discomfort.

Very often, it is ‘normal’ activities like putting on your socks that will be the last straw for your muscles.

Back pain can be very complex, but it can be resolved or at least reduced depending on the cause and where the issues lie.

There are many causes of back pain, here are some of the most common we see:

  • Strain, tension or injury
  • Poor posture & slouching
  • Lack of movement
  • Sciatica
  • Depression & Anxiety
  • Medical conditions such as kidney infections or shingles

Did you know: Almost one-third (32%) of the population in the UK live with an MSK condition such as arthritis or back pain?*

Here’s what other clients have to say about our services:

“I have been seeing Joe for a couple of months now after having my baby and suffering from painful hips and back post-partum! He has been absolutely brilliant and for the most part, has completely eliminated any pain and discomfort and I now only have to see him every 5 weeks for a top-up. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming and makes you feel comfortable when you are there! I have even recommended it to family who are currently also having treatment!” – Charlotte

“The Body Consultancy approach is to take a holistic view of one’s well-being. Turning up in 2020 with a number of physical and recurring injuries, the assessment and diagnosis process was thorough and professional. Treatment has been expertly provided by Mark, with rehabilitation sessions complemented by regular home-based stretching and strengthening exercises delivering a highly satisfactory outcome. I cannot recommend them highly enough for transforming my physical well-being.” – Gareth
