General Info

An established profession

Osteopathy is a safe and effective form of treatment for an array of conditions. The practice of osteopathy began over 100 years ago and since then has gained significant evidence base for its use for many ailments.

Degree education & statutory regulation

Osteopaths study for a minimum of four years to gain their degree. In this time they study anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and biomechanics. All osteopaths in the UK are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). Osteopaths must register with this body each year in order for them to continue practicing. The name ‘osteopath’ is protected by law. It is against the law for persons to practice as an osteopath without being registered with the GOsC.

Multidisciplinary approach

Body Consultancy offers various forms of treatment. In addition to osteopathic treatment, chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy and sports massage therapy are also available. Your osteopath may refer you, with your consent, to one of the other practitioners within the clinic if required. We also have an excellent relationship with local consultants and surgeons.

At Body Consultancy we offer individualized treatments for each patient, not just ‘standard routine’ as may be offered elsewhere. The osteopath will take time to assess you thoroughly and work with you and your body to find a treatment plan that works best for you.
