Established profession and degree educated

The profession of sports therapy has been established for 25 years after being founded in 1990 by Graduate Physiotherapist Graham Smith. He noticed a gap in knowledge among healthcare professionals; this was a lack of specific sports knowledge when treating sports injuries.

As the profession has grown the government has identified that it needs to be regulated and protected, and this is currently being processed. This will make the title ‘Sports Therapist’ a protected title and people without a degree in this subject will be breaking the law by calling themselves a Sports Therapist.

Multidisciplinary approach

This multidisciplinary approach is at the heart of our service here at Body Consultancy. In addition to Sports Therapy expertise, we also have professionally qualified Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists and Osteopaths. Your Sports therapist may refer you, with your consent, to another practitioner within our clinic if required. We also have an excellent relationship with local consultants and surgeons.

Personalised Treatment Plans

When you visit your Body Consultancy Therapist it’s important to remember that there is no such thing as a standard treatment. We use many forms of therapy, and it will be individual to you. You will always benefit most from an individual treatment plan tailored specifically to your exact needs. We ensure that the focus of the plan is to return you to your full potential as quickly as possible. The old saying that “Prevention is better than cure” is very much a core philosophy of all our therapies in general and of Body Consultancy in particular. The quicker you receive the correct treatment the easier it is to reduce future problems.

Further Investigation

Prolonged pain with no specific onset should always be investigated further. This is because many illnesses first show up as aches and pains. Body Consultancy Practitioners are fully trained to screen for any serious disease.
