Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists treat a variety of musculoskeletal
dysfunctions:
Back and Neck Pain
Back pain, neck pain and sciatica are common problems that
Physiotherapists encounter. The causes of these conditions include
bad posture, falling asleep in an awkward position, back strains
from lifting and twisting or sports related injuries. Leg or arm
tingling, numbness and aching are often associated with spinal
dysfunction.
Headaches
Headaches due to stress, tension or injury are another commonly
treated problem. The upper spine and associated muscles can become
tight and dysfunctional, resulting in headaches. Poor posture is
another major cause.
Sports Injuries
Sports people treated can vary from a child playing football at
school, to an elderly recreational runner or even a professional
athlete. Untreated sports injuries can lead to long term weakness
and recurrence. They may be quickly and effectively remedied with
Physiotherapy. A team approach involving the athlete, coach and
parents (for the young athlete) is important when setting out an
exercise rehabilitation program.
Advice will be given for
prevention of future occurrences. Common sports injuries treated
include knee ligament problems, ankle ligament sprains, muscular
strains, tennis elbow, overuse injuries, groin pain, hip pain, and
tendonitis.
