Frankie’s working more!!

We’re very happy to announce that as of 12th March 2013 Frankie (our fantastic chiropractor) will now be working Tuesday afternoons at the Bournemouth clinic!!!

She will be making appointments from 1500 – 1740 until the end of the football season. Once that’s over she’ll be extending even further into the evening (hopefully the evenings will be a lot lighter and warmer by then!) – but that will be confirmed nearer the time.

For now we will bid her adieu on her holidays. She’s off to Gran Canaria tomorrow to soak up some sun and warmth (we’re all very jealous). She’s back on Friday 8th March so if you need a chiropractic appointment in the meantime give us a call and we’ll book you in with Mark.

Fall in love with a Mediterranean Diet

I was lucky enough to be whisked away to Rome last week for Valentines Day.

Whilst Mark went away on a luxurious weekend break to a cosy wood cabin and ate lots of pub grub, I strolled around Rome feasting on all the Mediterranean diet has to offer (including LOTS of ice-cream which was allowed as I did so much walking!!).

A Mediterranean diet has shown to reduce pain and inflammation and even slow the progression of arthritis. The diet includes plenty of fruit and vegetables, fish, grains and pulses and a moderate amount of red meat. Foods rich in omega-3 such as walnuts are believed to have an anti-inflammatory effect. (Cool fact: the ancient Romans believed that Walnuts were a remedy for headaches!) Vitamin D and calcium (I suggest eating delicious Italian ice-cream for your calcium intake) are also important in a Mediterranean diet.  Whilst Italians mainly get their Vitamin D from all the sunshine they get, us British people will have to rely on food sources. Oily fish and eggs are some good options.

Remember that moderation is the key to a healthy diet.

While we’re having such beautiful weather, get outside and get yourself some vitamin D! Enjoy.
